Wilder Wheelock

I am drawn to pieces of metal that have shapes and textures found in nature. These forms may come to be as byproducts, things we create by accident, or by the force of nature directly. Heavy industrial scrap is beautiful to me because of the raw power needed to manipulate steel of this scale and the awesome feats accomplished with this material. To me, it embodies the human struggle to defy nature. I use these pieces of found metal as a focal point in my work, adding new material to give them structure and function. Click on any image to learn more about the piece.

These works are created largely with found metal. Because of this, they are one-of-a-kind and cannot be reproduced.
